Understanding Light Distribution

ASPECTS OF BEAM ANGLE

10° & 15° — Spot Lighting (Spot)

Ideal for accentuating specific objects or features. Commonly used in museums, galleries, and retail spaces.

24° — Task Lighting (Narrow)

Suitable for focused illumination in reading corners, kitchen countertops, or workstations.

36° — Accent Lighting (Narrow Flood)

A versatile option for smaller rooms, offering a balanced distribution of light.

55° — Ambient Lighting (Flood)

Ideal for larger rooms or open spaces, delivering a soft, even light.

How Light Reveals True Colour

COLOR RENDERING INDEX (CRI)

Think of it like this:

Good lighting makes colors look real and vibrant, while bad lighting makes colors look dull, off, or slightly wrong.

Easy Example:

A red sofa under high CRI light will display a deep, saturated red. The same sofa under low CRI light may look faded or brownish.

Why it matters:

Makes spaces look more premium and natural. Important for retail, homes, restaurants, and design spaces. Affects how people see materials, skin tone, and products.

Light sources with a CRI of 80 to 90 are generally considered good, while those with a CRI of 90+ are excellent.

Color Rendering Index comparison showing high vs low CRI

Measured in Kelvin (K)

COLOR TEMPERATURE

Warm White (2700K – 3000K)

Cozy, relaxing, intimate. Applications: Residential, Hotels & hospitality, Restaurants & cafes, Lounge areas.

Neutral White (3500K – 4000K)

Balanced, clean, functional. Applications: Offices & workspaces, Kitchens, Showrooms.

Cool White / Daylight (5000K – 6500K)

Bright, energetic, alert. Applications: Hospitals & clinics, Laboratories, Industrial spaces, Task-oriented environments.

Lambent Chipset Technology

CHIP-ON-BOARD LED (COB)

High Light Output

COB LEDs offer a high lumen density, delivering intense and uniform illumination.

Energy Efficiency

They produce more lumens per watt, using less energy for the same light output as traditional LEDs.

Better Heat Dissipation

Designed with an integrated cooling surface, they efficiently manage heat, improving performance and lifespan.

Compact Design

Their slim, space-saving design allows for innovative fixture integration.

Improved Beam Control

Ideal for focused, high-quality lighting applications with minimal glare.

Control, Comfort & Experience

WHY LIGHTING MATTERS

BEAM CONTROL

IT directs light precisely, highlighting features and creating depth to ensure elements are seen as intended.

LIGHT DISTRIBUTION AND DENSITY

They are crucial for visual comfort. Well-distributed lighting reduces harsh shadows and creates a balanced, refined environment, enhancing spatial quality.

LUMEN OUTPUT

It determines the impact of the lighting. The correct level ensures spaces are perfectly tuned for their purpose, avoiding under- or over-lighting.

INDIRECT LIGHTING

like cove lighting, introduces softness and continuity, enhancing ambiance and minimizing glare for inviting and comfortable spaces.

Ingress Protection Rating

IP RATINGS

Why it matters — Safety:

Prevents water or dust from getting inside, reducing risk of short circuits or electrical failure.

Why it matters — Durability:

Lights last longer when properly protected. Avoids rust, damage, or internal corrosion.

IP Ratings Chart:

IP20 → Indoor (dry areas like living room) IP44 → Bathrooms (splash-proof) IP65 → Outdoor (rain & dust resistant)

IP rating ensures your lights don't just look good — they survive the environment they're in.

IP ratings chart

Power & Brightness

WATTS VS LUMENS

The Key Difference:

Watts (W): Energy consumed (cost). Lumens (lm): Light output (brightness).

Example:

Old 60W bulb ≈ 10W LED bulb in brightness. The LED uses less energy for the same lumens.

Why it matters:

Don't rely on Watts for brightness — LED technology means higher watts no longer equals brighter light. Low watts + high lumens = better performance and lower cost.

Watts tell you how much you pay. Lumens tell you what you get.
